Recent Outbreaks and Recalls

According to the Centers for Disease Control, 76 million cases of foodborne disease occur each year in the United States. Most of these cases are mild and cause non-life-threatening symptoms. However, an estimated 325,000 hospitalizations and 5,000 deaths related to foodborne diseases occur each year. For more information about foodborne illness, disease outbreaks, and investigations, visit the CDC's "Foodborne Illness" webpage or the FDA's "Recalls and Market Withdrawals" webpage.
